Gorilla Trekking – Ideal Birth Day Gift

Gorilla trekking experience; The ideal trip to give my sister the best birthday moment

In a few months, it will be my sister’s birthday. She has held many lavish and white parties during her big day and she has had a very good time and great memories come around while looking at the pictures. However, this time around she wants something unique, something of out her world, something that is different from what a common man knows. She has been on my neck all the time inquiring if I have the best option because she has no idea of what to do.

I was in Uganda a few years back and I had this safari experience I cannot forget the whole of my life- the gorilla trekking experience.  This is what is ticking in my mind. It is a whole new experience to a person who has been around the urban environment for the whole of his/her lifetime.  My trip to these huge primates in Uganda was a spectacle, a trip that blew my mind, a trip I would want to have over and over again and I think my sister’s birthday is the chance to take it again.  This is a special gift I would love to give to my only sister in this world. I am pretty sure that she will definitely love it. Why do I have to have a second thought of her loving it, she is going to love and I am a 100% sure that it will be the best moment of her life.

Let me walk you through what it is like to go gorilla trekking. This gorilla trekking tour comes with a premium price as a gorilla permit is damn expensive (USD 600$ and will increase to US$700 from July 2020) but it is worth every penny you spend on it.  While I went to a gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, I was picked up by a safari guide at the airport who drove to Bwindi impenetrable national park where the mountain gorillas are found. These tropical rain forests of Bwindi are home to half of the world population of the mountain gorillas. When we reached in Bwindi with my guide, I was taken to my lodge for a night stay to prepare for the gorilla trekking experience the following day. The next day at around 5 am, I had my breakfast and driven to the headquarter of the park for briefing.

After briefing and verifying our gorilla permits, I was allocated to a group of 8 people with whom I was going to trek the gorillas. Under the guidance of the gorilla ranger, we headed to the jungle and we were all excited with other trekkers. The gorilla ranger gave us an insightful story about the gorilla family of Mishaya we were to track at that time and also the Bwindi forests at large. The trek was very interesting since we encountered other wildlife like the monkeys, reptiles, amazing tree species, and magnificent river streams and waterfalls.

After a four hour trek through the jungles of Bwindi, we found the mountain gorillas and these were in a group of about 20 individuals. There was a dominant silverback that was very protective of its family though welcoming. Words cannot explain this moment but it is so great to hang out with the gorillas. We interacted with the gorillas as we watched them feed, play around and also the young ones broke the distance rule as they came and played around with us. We had fantastic photos and gorilla filming experience in Uganda of these amazing animals. Their communication is worth a mention, you might think they speak a certain dialect of a human being.

Trekking the gorillas in Uganda should be on every traveler’s bucket list and this must be the gift I should give my sister on her forthcoming birthday.
