Flydubai starts regional flights in October

Fly Dubai is a low cost airline based in Dubai. It is to introduce flights to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro by October 2014. According to Ghaith Al Ghaith, the Chief Executive officer of Fly Dubai, with the addition of the 3 destinations (Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro) in Tanzania, they have expanded their market and doubled their network in North and East Africa this year 2014. In that way they have strengthening their commitment to serving previously under served markets in Africa.

This is a great opportunity to the development of tourism in the East East African region because, Fly Dubai is to increase flights connecting Tanzania (and other East African countries) to other parts of the world. Additionally, tourists will easily connect between East African countries, for example, one can easily connect to Rwanda for gorilla trekking, and later connect to Zanzibar Island for relaxation. Or, one can connect from Tanzania after wildlife viewing in Serengeti and Ngorongoro, then connect to Kenya’s Masaimara national park and / or Uganda / Rwanda for mountain gorilla tracking adventures.

Ghaith added that flydubai already has flights to Bujumbura in Burundi, Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and Kanombe Airport in Rwanda. These flights started in this month of September 2014.

Tanzania is one of the most popular tourist destination in Africa especially the northern sector that is consists of the Ngorongoro crater area, Serengeti National park, Olduvai gorge, Mount Kirimanjaro (The highest in Africa) and Lake Manyara among others. Many tourists like exploring Tanzania and connect to Rwanda in Volcanoes National park, a home to mountain gorillas in Africa.

With regard to historical sites, Zanzibar’s Stone Town and Bagamoyo’s Kaole ruins attract so many tourists from United states of America, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) and Europe among others. Therefore, this will help very much to boost tourism in the area.

On February 13th, 2013, flydubai announced that it was in talks with Boeing and Airbus for a 50-plane order. Flights to Tanzania will continue the airline’s network in Africa to 12 destinations.
