Detailed itinerary:
- Day 1: Drive to Bwindi National Park
Breakfast, drive to Bwindi National Park heading towards southwestern Uganda. Stop at the equator for photographs, lunch en-route in Mbarara town. Proceed to Bwindi National Park, dinner and overnight at Bwindi View Bandas, Buhoma Community Camp, Silverback lodge, Gorilla Resort or Trackers Safari Lodge.
- Day 2: Memorable Gorilla Tracking
Breakfast, report for a briefing by the ranger guides. Proceed for trekking in the forest, gorilla trekking may take 2-6hours depending on where the gorillas built a nest the previous night, expect to walk long distances in steep conditions sometimes with rain overhead before you encounter any gorillas. You will enjoy the beautiful scenery that the forest and landscape have to offer. For conservation purposes, the time spent with gorillas is one hour. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at your lodge as on day one.
- Day 3: Drive to Ishasha for tree Climbing Lions, Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with en-route game drive through the Ishasha sector, where you may have a chance to spot the tree-climbing lions along with other animals like African Elephants, Buffaloes as well as Antelope species. Return for dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge, Enganzi Lodge or King Fisher Lodge.
- Day 4: Game Safari & Boat Cruise
A cup of tea/ coffee, go for a game drive to encounter animals like lions, Elephants, Topi, Bushbucks and Buffaloes, Uganda kob among others. Lunch at the lodge and relax as you prepare for a fantastic boat cruise on the Kazinga channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. On this boat cruise, you will view abundant birdlife, buffaloes, huge Nile crocodiles, Elephants basking on the shores and perhaps the highest concentration of Hippos in Africa.
- Day 5: Chimps Tracking or Game safari – Return to Kampala
Early breakfast, enjoy the second-morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hiding places, expect to see animals like the grazing hippos, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas, leopards, bushbuck, waterbuck, stripped jackal, and warthogs.
Alternatively, we can go for chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura gorge before driving back to Kampala where the tour ends.
