Kagame’s ‘down to earth nature’ is what drive Rwanda progress
According to Uganda Journalist Felix Osike, President Paul Kagame’s ‘Down to Earth’ personality is what drives Rwanda’s rapid development. Mr.Felix Osike (in the photo below) is a seasoned Ugandan Journalist and an investigative editor for Vision Group in Uganda, he is now in Kigali where, together with other foreign and local journalists from across the world is covering the ongoing African Development Bank annual meeting.
Mr. Osike revealed that President Paul Kagame of Rwanda is a man he describes as a ‘Down-to-earth’ and a driving engine for the country’s progress. Rwanda is rapidly development economically when compared to Uganda, all the sectors like tourism and hospitality and far better than Uganda even though Uganda has much more to offers in tourism, for instance, Rwanda has only 3 national parks namely; Akagera, Nyungwe forest and Volcanoes National park that inhabits the mountain gorillas while Uganda has 10 parks and has almost half of the world’s last remaining population of the critically endangered mountain gorillas.
Bumping into Kagame on Tokyo streets
Osike said that In 2008, he traveled to Japan to cover the the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Yokohama Japan with over 40 African Heads of State. He was so curious and took time off to admire the infrastructure in Yokohama Japan. As he was window shopping, he was awe struck by the presence of President Kagame on the same street looking at the roads infrastructure in Yokohama city. To him, this shows how down to earth President Kagame is.
Osike added that when he landed in Kigali – the capital city of Rwanda, he was impressed by the state of the roads in the city and the way the transport system is organized including the commercial cyclists who all have two helmets and identification numbers on their uniforms / reflector jackets!
Rwandans know their history and are ready to make a change in their lives. The pace of Rwanda development is very fast and is seen when you take a tour around Kigali city. Besides the initiatives in the health sector are worth talking about.
When other East African countries like Uganda are still grappling with the health sector, Rwanda has successfully implemented the Universal health access to all Rwandans.
