Kayonza: Rukara women supporting vulnerable people
RWANDA: Women in Rukara sector in Kayonza district in Rwanda yesterday celebrated the International Women’s Day, 8th of March 2014 by supporting poor and vulnerable women in their area.
Kayonza women revealed that they have attained some of their targets and they proved this by sharing some of their achievements with the poor. This is according to Consolee Uwibambe, Vice mayor for social affairs in Kayonza District.
According to the coordinator of the National Women’s Council in Rukara sector Ms. Agnes Nyinawumuntu, women in this sector do different kind of work that makes them capable of providing for themselves and their families without relying on husbands.
Nyinawumuntu further added that, women in Rukara involve in trade and farming, this enables them to pay for their families’ medical insurance, school fees and provide other necessities. Women further made a step towards development, they have goals they intend to achieve and they support their fellow women to move together.
Rukara sector women were appreciated for supporting many government programs. They made flower gardens on the genocide memorial museum in this sector, they made gardens on the teachers quarters in the sector and they keep clean other many public places in their sector.
