The Green Screen studio at ADMA in Rwanda
The Africa Digital Media Academy (ADMA) in Rwanda recently setup a green screen studio that allows trainees to super impose digital images into video background to produce unique situations. The ADMA is born of a partnership between the Workforce Development Authority in Rwanda and the Pixel Corps, a company based in California with over 10 years experience in preparing people to work across different aspects of digital media.
According to Ryan Yewell an Instructor at ADMA, this is a functioning studio with controlled lights, structures like double doors that minimize echo (in sound control), air conditioning and signal cameras connected to Internet. The existence of the green studio has started with a great impact as it was used during the last campaign dubbed, Youth Connekt Dialogue that aimed at providing a platform for the youth to exchange ideas relating to national development. ADMA students did all operations within the studio.
ADMA begun in March 2012 with about 20 students training in quality video and film production, basic production skills like computer graphics, editing, and audio lighting, motion tracking, photo shop and 3D modeling. The academy currently has 43 students. The green studio technology is the most effective way of integrating high quality images into the background and allows any background needed without traveling.
All the filming can be done in one place and the background can be changed immediately and graphics can be produced in a short time.
